Our Provider
Dr. John Tung, MBBS MRCP (UK)
Dr. John Tung earned his degree from Guy's Hospital Medical School in London in 1988. He practiced in hospitals throughout London—including the Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street—before relocating to the United States for his pediatric residency at the University of Vermont.
His fellowship training included pediatric gastroenterology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and advanced hepatology and liver transplantation at King's College Hospital in London. He also earned Specialty Certification in England (CSST).
Before entering private practice in South Jersey, he served as attending pediatric gastroenterologist and director of liver transplantation at Nemours Children's Hospital. He later founded South Jersey Pediatric Gastroenterology in Mays Landing and Voorhees, where the practice has served families throughout the region for decades.
Services
Our practice offers full-spectrum pediatric gastroenterology care — including office consultations and procedures, infusion therapy, and telehealth follow-up when a virtual visit makes sense.
Consultations & Follow-up
Assessment and long-term care for reflux, abdominal pain, IBD, celiac disease, liver concerns, feeding and nutrition issues, and related pediatric GI conditions.
Infusions (Biologics)
Biologic infusions given in our offices for children and young adults with inflammatory bowel disease, including Remicade/Avsola, Simponi Aria, and Entyvio — offered at both Voorhees and Mays Landing.
Endoscopy & Colonoscopy
Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy are performed under anesthesia at a surgical center. Biopsies are taken when helpful for diagnosis, and prep instructions are sent ahead of your procedure.
Breath Testing
Hydrogen breath testing in the office for lactose, fructose, sucrose, and glucose (SIBO), with straightforward prep guidance so results stay accurate.
Sick Visits
If your child is unwell, contact the office. We will review their symptoms and arrange timely care according to what they need.
Telehealth
In-person appointments are still our main approach. When a virtual visit fits — such as certain follow-ups or selected concerns — telehealth is available through Doximity video.
